Jay Grewal

Jay Grewal is a proven leader with over 30 years of leadership and corporate management experience that includes working at executive levels in the utility, resource, and consulting sectors. Since February 2019, she has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Manitoba Hydro, a provincial Crown Corporation headquartered in Winnipeg and one of the largest integrated electricity and natural gas distribution utilities in Canada. Prior to joining Manitoba Hydro, Jay was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Northwest Territories Power Corporation. She’s also held senior executive roles with Capstone Mining Corp, Accenture Inc., BC Hydro and CIBC World Markets. Since taking the helm at Manitoba Hydro, she has led the utility through a deep dive into its long-range planning, resulting in the development of Strategy 2040 — a new long-range vision for Manitoba Hydro as it seeks to address the ever-changing energy landscape. She has also led the company through the development of its recently released Integrated Resource Plan. Jay graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and holds a Master of Business Administration (Finance) from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. Throughout her career, she’s been active on several non-profit boards including serving as a board member of the British Columbia Business Council and the United Way of British Columbia’s Campaign Cabinet. She is also a past member of the Board of Governors, University of British Columbia where she chaired the Finance Committee and past Chair, Energy Division of the B.C. Children's Hospital Miracle Network.
