Application deadline:

This application is for an in-person workshop, covering the topic of 'Public Speaking' offered by Global Public Affairs.

Global Public Affairs will provide a 3–4-hour theoretical and practical workshop entitled 'Public Speaking Training'. This workshop aims to build participants' confidence to speak in public, to make positive public impressions, to deliver the messages that need to be heard and to effectively respond to questions and engage the audience in a meaningful dialogue.

Key themes covered

  • Telling the infrastructure story making sure people understand the broader impact of your message by linking a project/idea to the bigger picture
  • Focusing on a core message ensuring that you achieve your objectives from speaking to the audience by prioritizing what you want to get across
  • Connecting with the audience demonstrating that you value the audience’s time by linking your message to situations they encounter and resonate with
  • Making your presentation memorable tips to make your participation stand out from the crowd through content and delivery
  • Adapting to different situations knowing how to navigate being a keynote speaker, panellist, or moderator
  • Dealing with questions being prepared for any difficult questions and building a dialogue with the audience
  • Tips and tricks knowing what to avoid and what you can do to help ensure your presentation is a success

Future training may be scheduled in the same cities or other Canadian cities based on WIN members' interest.
