Julian Martensen has been a member of the National Bank Financial (NBF) Global Power and Infrastructure Finance team since the beginning of 2010.

As a managing director, Julian provides execution expertise with close to fifteen years of capital markets experience. Julian has attained commitment financing for over 75 infrastructure project financings while acting as financial advisor, underwriter, or debt arranger to consortia pursuing major projects.

Widely regarded as an expert on financing structures for north American Public-Private Partnerships, Julian directly negotiates the financing and commercial documents with capital providers, infrastructure developers, construction contractors, and operations service providers.

Julian has actively supported diversity in hiring at NBF through candidate selection and mentoring for the NBF capital markets rotation program, which has focused on hiring women and visible minorities. NBF also offers a financial markets scholarship program that has been historically focused on women and has recently been expanded to support diversity broadly, including visible minorities, Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, and persons from the LGBTQ+ community.

Prior to working at NBF, Julian worked at Export Development Canada in Ottawa, Ontario.

Julian received an Honours Bachelor of Commerce, with distinction, from the University of Ottawa in 2008. Julian is also a CFA Charterholder. He received the charter in 2012 after passing the level III exam in June 2010.
